zallan and ace of space are very fun. not sure why kaati has the most votes. i find the game play boring. the game also doesnt meet the requirement of lives and 3 weapons.

For all you having trouble running some games, please take a look at the Round 2 post. It contains source code for you to compile it yourself.

According to Dependency Walker, I needed msjava.dll and msvcp90d.dll. The problem, then, is that msvcp90d.dll is a debug version, not a redistributable. Can you post a non-debug build of First Flight Planet, Labarum, and Supernova?

Well, I still can't play several of them. I'm getting the generic "application configuration is not correct" error.

I did get to play Zallan at full speed though. It is quite good, the best I've seen so far.

I haven't been able to try them all yet (Wine needs those MS dlls, but the installer doesn't work and I don't trust other sources...). I'll vote after I try them on my Windows machine. So far, Ace of Space looks good, KAATI is nice and original (if I clear MDK from my mind), Zallan runs at 3 fps, and Knight's Slayer needs to grow up.

For those that cannot run certain games you mostly likely need the VC Redistributable.

http://www.microsoft.com/DOWNLOADS/details.aspx?FamilyID=9b2da534-3e03-4391-8a4d-074b9f2bc1bf&displaylang=en

Zallan though should work just fine, it was compiled via gcc/mingw.

Bluebeach thank you for your constructive feedback. Yes, you're right, the game needs a lot of tweaks and I'm working on them (even if they won't count for the contest). I got all games working fine in my machine. I don't know much about prerequisites but I believe it is all included with the zip of each game so I don't have a clue about your problem...

Knight's Slayer, maybe the game wasn't clear enough, but in the second screen (where the name of the game appears), it says that you have to press Q to quit. That also works ingame, so you don't have to restart your machine to exit the game.

KAATI controls ain't usual, really, and once again the game was not clear about them. Actually, if i'm not mistaken, the version sent to the contest allows you to control the player with the keyboard too, so you might give it a try.

ps katti game presentation is really cool, i think some people arnet used to the control style its rather unique, took me a while to figure it out / get the hang of it

the game has potential to be an awesum i just think a few tweaks on your player class might help.. personally id make sprites smaller as its difficult to dodge things, plus id probably ditch the player fly-to cursor thing or make the cursor more visible. good luck anyways.

I specialise in programming robotics.

Thanks for those comments guys, the feedback means a lot to me!

Knight's Slayer: Do you even know the amount of effort and work that goes into these games? Do you have an entry in this contest?

K.A.A.T.I. oh man... this game is a lot of bolex, I can't believe that stupid game like that has actually that much of votes (Please stop voting for yourself). I've downloaded your game and you know what! it is a proper shite. I have to restart my PC just to exit and then clear my mind in order not to have nightmares about stupid game control and funky meaningless graphics.
Ahhh Ace of Space, WHAT YEAR ARE YOU LIVING IN!!!! how slow is you game and all what you come up with is this stupid rotating enemies, those enemies haven't got even an intelligence, if I stop that stupid plane on the right position then I'll win by doing nothing !!!!
SDL Boss, I love to play your game, I think that you are great, you used openGL and all the proper shit.. Good on you man.
Supernova, that's what I'm talking about, the intelligent enemies, fast processing, enjoyable what else can you ask for!?, My Vote is for you. (Why I can't download your game again?, broken link!?)
Zallan Brilliant game man, I love it when small idea could turn up to a big awesome game. You may be the next ipod millionaire.

Bradley, it actually don't crash... It closes because we didn't had time to make an 'End Game' picture or something and there is no other stage to load. If you manage to create a new stage and link the first with the second (the stage file have details on this), it will load. There is another point here: Tim only provided Windows binaries (at least those links above points to them). On Linux where there is a console, the game prints a message with a little text and your score.

Of course that these aren't excuses nor justify the fact that the game really seems to crash, I'm just explaining what happens when you kill the boss...
